Maruti Omni with Mercedes SLS-Inspired Doors
This post comes from masterbutter_ on Instagram. It captures a prominent YouTuber with this unique Omni. The van is evidently a work in progress. It is amidst the transformation into something drool-worthy. In all honesty, I have come across digital renditions of the Omni with such elements. But this is the first time I have witnessed it in real life. Although the final iteration still seems some time away, the silhouette informs about what the actual model would look like. There are tons of customizations to make it look rugged. It even lends an imposing road presence.

The most prominent alteration is the gullwing doors. These became mainstream after Mercedes offered it in the SLS range. But these have been around for a long time in some top-end performance cars in the past as well. In addition to that, the rear bumper looks chunky. There are rugged alloy wheels with broad tyres as well. In fact, I also see the wheel arches being a lot wider than in the stock model. Perhaps, the owner is going for the widebody appearance. At the front, the entire fascia is fresh with an additional body structure making it look muscular. The vlogger says that it would take another 1 month to complete this project.

What We Think
We applaud the passion of those looking to add a personal touch to their vehicles for a unique look. However, it is vital to recognize that the majority of car modifications are against the law in India. Hence, we strongly caution our audience against undertaking extensive and substantial alterations. If you are interested in making customizations to your vehicle, we suggest consulting your local RTO beforehand. If these modifications align with legal requirements, you can officially update them in your vehicle’s registration certificate. This ensures compliance with the law and helps avoid any complications with law enforcement. But if it is just a passion project, then you could consider it.
