Maruti Suzuki is the largest carmaker in the country by a mile but has struggled in recent years when it comes to SUVs. It plans to change that with as many as 4 new launches expected soon.
In a bid to conquer the SUV segment in India, Maruti is planning an onslaught with 4 new SUVs planned for launch within a couple of years. Now, Hyundai and Tata are the current leaders in the SUV space, while Maruti is the undisputed leader in almost all the other major segments in our market. Such a huge discrepancy in the sales of products from various segments has prompted it to act quickly. To fix that, we might see 4 new SUVs by the end of 2023 in our market.

Maruti To Launch 4 New SUVs
Maruti Brezza Compact SUV
The facelifted version of the Brezza compact SUV is about to make its debut at the end of July 2022. The spy images of the production-spec model highlight the changes in exterior design, as well as confirms the introduction of an electric sunroof on a Maruti product for the first time ever. There will most likely be an updated 1.5-litre petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology for enhanced fuel efficiency.

Maruti YGF Mid-Size SUV
The Creta-rivalling mid-size SUV that will be developed by Toyota (Hyryder) will be supplied to Maruti where it could be called YGF. This takes the JV partnership between the two brands forward with Toyota being the donor company in this case as opposed to Maruti in the previous cases with Baleno-Glanza and Brezza-Urban Cruiser. The launch might happen around the festive season this year (2022).

Maruti Baleno Cross
Now, Baleno is already the highest-selling premium hatchback in the country by a huge margin. The latest update has made it even more attractive with a few segment-first features. A compact crossover version based on the Baleno might also be on the cards for Maruti to compete in the sub-compact SUV segment against the likes of Tata Punch. We might catch the first glimpses of it at the Auto Expo 2023.

Maruti Jimny
Last but not the least, the arrival of the Thar-rivalling Maruti Jimny has been in the news since time immemorial. But we might finally receive the 5-door version of the internationally popular Jimny just like we will see a 5-door version of the Thar soon. For the off-road enthusiasts looking for a relatively more affordable solution, the likes of Thar and the upcoming Jimny are the ideal SUVs for some serious adventures. These are the 4 new SUVs that Maruti might launch over the course of the next year and a half to assert its dominance in India.
