Maruti Jimny and Toyota Fortuner face each other in an off-road battle. Both these are prominent off-roaders in our market. However, they belong to the opposite ends of the price spectrum. On one hand, Jimny is among the most successful lightweight off-roading machines on the planet. It has been selling in the international markets for over 5 decades now. But it is the first time in its history that it has a 5-door version, specifically for India. On the other hand, Fortuner has been the most popular 7-seat SUV in our country since its inception. Jimny vs Fortuner Off-Road Battle
This video comes from Small Town Rider on YouTube. The vlogger keeps organizing off-road challenges with popular cars frequently. On this occasion, he has a Maruti Jimny and a Toyota Fortuner. To test the capabilities of these two mighty popular SUVs, they select a hardcore location. It is close to a riverbed and there are some treacherous obstacles. In the first round, they try to pull the cars up a slope with an uneven surface. The Jimny makes it to the top quite effortlessly while the Fortuner struggles initially. Then the latter was put in 4×4 mode and it made it through easily.

Thereafter, the team decides to take the SUV down the slope. Note that adequate ground clearance is needed to glide over this challenging surface. Both SUVs make it down the slope convincingly. Finally, they find another spot where the surface has a lot of uneven inclinations. They try to drive the Fortuner on it up the slope. However, it was not able to conquer this task. The team was worried about damaging the underbelly. That is why they didn’t push the SUV too hard. Similarly, Jimny was not taken on this obstacle either. Finally, they make their way back home while crossing the river easily.

We enjoy seeing SUVs being tested in their real-life environments, but we can’t suggest this for everyone. It’s easy to understand why – the risk of harming the vehicles in these conditions is quite high. If it’s your own car, fixing it could be really expensive. What’s worse, certain parts might even suffer permanent damage. That’s why it’s better to watch and admire what these SUVs can do online, without putting your own vehicle in danger. Plus, the YouTubers making these videos take a lot of safety measures that we don’t always see. So, it’s important not to blindly copy their actions.
