MSIL just revealed the mileage figures of the Jimny SUV making things really interesting. As per the official data, the manual transmission version of the Jimny is good for 16.94 km/l while the automatic trim will offer an almost similar 16.39 km/l of mileage. These are decent numbers considering the fact that it is an off-roading SUV. On the other hand, the Mahindra Thar has a mileage of around 15.2 km/l with the diesel variant and around 9 km/h in petrol guise. The Jimny has a clear advantage in terms of fuel economy despite being a petrol-only model.

Maruti Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15B petrol mill that churns out 104.8 PS and 134.2 Nm of peak power and torque. There is a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission on offer. It comes with Suzuki’s trademark ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain with a locking differential and a low-range transfer case. On the other hand, the Thar comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 150 hp / 320 Nm and a 2.2-litre diesel engine that develops 130 hp / 320 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. There are options of choosing between a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission with a dedicated 4×4 unit lending it impressive off-roading qualities. The prices range from Rs 10.54 lakh to Rs 16.78 lakh, ex-showroom while the prices of the Jimny will be announced at the launch.
