We reported a Maruti Jimny whose roof was cut a few weeks ago. Jimny gains prominence in our market with impressive sales. However, there are also more number of people who are taking it to the aftermarket for intense modifications. This is a prime example of that. Here, the owner decided to modify it thoroughly and the first step revolves around cutting the SUV in half. The top rear section of the Jimny has been omitted. The owner mentions that there are huge plans to make something truly remarkable and capable out of this. But there has been no update about it for over a month now.

Maruti Jimny Cut from Roof for Modifications
The details of this entire saga are in this video by Thisisgabru on YouTube. It narrates the entire process of customizing this Jimny. The owner used the stock Jimny just for a couple of days and declared that it was not good enough for hardcore off-roading. Hence, there need to be a lot of modifications to make it rugged and more capable. Hence, he took it to a prominent aftermarket car shop. They decided to cut the roof of the Jimny and remove all the components from the inside including door panels and seats. They refuse to reveal what they have in mind going forward. We shall have to wait for it.

Specs
The Maruti Jimny comes with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine that makes a decent 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. You can get this engine with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The power goes to all four wheels using Suzuki’s well-known ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 system, which has a special part that makes the wheels move slower for tough spots and a part that locks the wheels together. The car has a ground clearance of 210 mm. The approach, break-over and departures angles are 36-degree, 24-degree, and 50-degree respectively. The cost of the Maruti Jimny is between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh, ex-showroom.

What We Think
This super foolish modification has many problems. First, they took out all the parts from the inside and the doors. We all know that things made in the factory are the best, and if you try to put things back, they won’t be as good, and there might be rattling sounds soon. Second, by cutting the body in half, you’re making the structure weaker. Because they removed a big part of the body, the whole vehicle becomes less strong. This can make the way it drives worse because how weight moves around changes. Lastly, the warranty isn’t valid anymore. We really want to tell our readers to never ever try something like this.
