We have encountered innumerable modifications where the newly launched Maruti Jimny has been converted into the iconic Mercedes G-Wagon. Despite their exorbitant price differences, there is a lot common in the two. On one hand, the Jimmy is the affordable hardcore lightweight off-roading SUV. It has a rich legacy of over 50 years in the international market. However, it has made its debut in India in its 4th generation with a 5-door configuration for the first time ever. On the other hand, the G-Wagon is an iconic and the most popular luxury off-roader on earth. It is fascinating to witness what aftermarket car modification houses are able to achieve these days. Here are the details.

The video comes from MRD Cars on YouTube. It captures a unique walkaround tour of this SUV. At first glance, you would hardly be able to make out that this is not the original G-Wagon but a humble Jimny. At the front, one finds those iconic round LED DRLs surrounding the LED headlamps, a large grille with the Suzuki logo, clamshell bonnet, prominent turn indicators mounted on the extreme edges of the bonnet, chunky and substantial front bumper with larger air intakes on either sides and auxiliary LED lights mounted on the roof. What We Think
We understand and appreciate the enthusiasm of individuals looking to personalize their vehicles for a distinctive appearance. But most car modifications are illegal in India. Consequently, engaging in such alterations could lead to potential harassment by law enforcement authorities. For this reason, we strongly advise our readers against pursuing extensive and comprehensive vehicle modifications. If you still wish to make certain customizations, it is crucial to first consult with your local RTO (Regional Transport Office). They will provide guidance on which modifications are permissible. If the desired customizations are allowed, you can have them officially recorded and edited in the registration certificate of your vehicle. By doing so, you can avoid any potential issues with the authorities in the future.
