The launch of Jimny (5-door) marks an exhilarating milestone in our SUV portfolio and will play an important role in our goal of becoming the country’s largest SUV maker. We are delighted with the response it has received from both prospective customers and critics alike. We are confident that Jimny will empower customers to explore uncharted territories and power through all obstacles with a #NeverTurnBack attitude.“
What We Think
We were expecting the prices of the Jimny to be in the vicinity of Rs 12 lakh and Maruti has been able to deliver that. India is a price-conscious market and Maruti knows it well. Hence, there are bound to be advantages for Maruti by pricing its hardcore 4×4 SUV this competitively when the closest competitor is priced so high. Moreover, the comparable 5-door version of the Thar is still undergoing testing. Once that is launched, this gap could increase further. Hence, people on a tight budget will flock toward buying the Jimny without giving a second thought.
