The deliveries of the Jimny have just started and owners are already taking it to aftermarket car modification houses.
The images of the first-ever Maruti Jimny with aftermarket off-road-spec alloy wheels have appeared on the internet. Jimmy is one of the most popular lightweight off-roading SUVs in the world. It has been selling quite well in many international markets for decades now. However, India has received the 5-door avatar of the SUV to cater to the demands of the customers. Indian buyers mostly opt for value-for-money propositions and practicality when it comes to their vehicles. That is the reason why Maruti has launched a 5-door version of the Jimny for the very first time.

Maruti Jimny with Aftermarket Alloy Wheels
The post has been shared by ravityres_amritsar on Instagram. It shows a brand-new Jimny taken to the aftermarket tyre shop to get custom alloys installed. These are off-roading tyres which is informed by their design, tread pattern and high-profile configuration. They boast black paint on the rims and red inserts on the edges to accentuate ruggedness. The side-wall on these tyres is tall indicating that these are high profile and broad tyres. That is needed to maximize traction and offer better bump absorption on rough terrains, which is where the Jimny will primarily be used.

Specs
Maruti Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol mill that churns out 103 hp and 134 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. There is a dedicated and hardcore ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case and locking differential enhancing its off-roading capabilities. The ground clearance is a decent 210 mm and the approach, ramp and departure angles (36°, 24° and 50° respectively) are handy to ensure that the components of the SUV don’t brush against the surface. It retails from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh, ex-showroom.

What We Think
It is common for hardcore off-roading SUVs to come equipped with appropriate tyres. But there are a lot of people who head to the aftermarket to get an even wider variety of tyres to choose from. We can only recommend that you must be careful while choosing the right size for the tyres. Too big and chunky tyres need modifications to the other components like steering assembly, brakes, suspension and more. If not done properly, these heavy tyres could impact the mechanicals in the long run. Therefore, don’t go for tyres that are too large or consult the professionals before upsizing the tyres.
