Ever since the launch of the anticipated Maruti Jimny in India, we have come across many cases where aftermarket modifications have been done on it.
This has to be the first instance of a Maruti Jimny getting colossal 22-inch alloys from the aftermarket. Jimny is a lightweight off-roading SUV that has been an iconic product in the international market for over 50 years now. Initially designed for rugged military applications, it was launched for the masses soon after in the 1970s. Note that this Indian-spec model is the first time ever that the Jimny is seen with 5 doors. This improves the practicality and makes it a usable everyday vehicle. Here are the details of this Jimny with aftermarket alloys.

The Youtube video uploaded below captures the installation process of these ginormous alloy wheels. As the mechanic readies to slap these new mags on, one could see just how massive these are. Note that Jimny has 15-inch alloys as stock. Needless to say, the 22-inchers are bound to make a world of difference in terms of aesthetics, as well as ground clearance. The final part of the video showcases how the SUV looks with all alloys installed including the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.

What We Think
While we understand that installing such large alloys enhances the exterior appearance of the SUV and even lends it an unmatched road presence, there are significant downfalls to it. This includes things like low mileage as these are heavy alloys and more power (and hence fuel) is needed to move the vehicle. Secondly, with such upsized wheels, there are modifications needed for other mechanical components too including steering assembly, suspension setup, spacers so that the body of the vehicle does not brush against the tyres and more. Therefore, we would suggest refraining from getting such giant aftermarket alloys.
