Maruti Jimny 7-Seater Debut Likely at Auto Expo 2023
After the success of Brezza and Vitara, Maruti is all set to launch a Baleno Cross and 5-door Jimny. The 7-Seater SUV was recently spotted. In all likelihood, the new model will debut at Auto Expo 2023 in January next year. The test mules have been seen in a 7-seat layout as well as a 5-door version. The spy shots have been captured by Rahul Matneja and Riding Roots Adventure. The company is clearly trying to cash in on the popularity of lifestyle off-roading vehicles. The 3-door Maruti Jimny is already popular in the international markets.
As you can see in the images above, the Maruti Jimny 7-Seater variant features front-facing seats. This means that the upcoming car will be more of a family SUV than an off-roading vehicle. The extra seats will be an added attraction for Indian customers. It is quite likely that the 3rd-row seats will be foldable and owners will be able to increase boot space if needed. Additional features include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, rear AC vents, and a USB charging port.
With off-roading capabilities and red interiors, the upcoming SUV is likely to attract young customers. The company is said to offer red upholstery with top-spec variants. Additionally, it is likely to be the next guinea pig for modification enthusiasts. The Maruti Jimny clearly resembles the Mercedes-Benz G Class. In fact, a Jimny owner in London has converted his car into a mini Brabus G63 AMG. More such conversions are likely to come after the Jimny 7-seater hits the Indian markets.

Specs & Features
The Maruti Jimny 7-Seater variant will be powered by a 1.5L K15 motor that offers 100 bhp of max power and 130 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a 4×4 system with a low-range transfer case. Along with a range of creature comforts on the inside, the Jimny will come with ample approach/ departure/ break-over angles and clearance. It is based on a rigid ladder frame and offers 210mm of ground clearance. Additionally, the off-roading vehicle is said to sport a 3-link rigid axle suspension with coil spring.
The Maruti Jimny 7-Seater Variant is expected to be launched at the 2023 Auto Expo in January next year. It will be launched alongside the 5-door variant. While the price has not been revealed as yet, Maruti is likely to offer an affordable price compared to the 3-door version. However, unlike the 3-door model, the 5-door Jimny might not get 4X4 as standard. The upcoming SUV will compete with the likes of the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door and Force Gurkha 5-door (both of which are also undergoing tests currently).
