In an unfortunate turn of events, a Maruti Suzuki Ignis (3-star NCAP rating) is seen sandwiched between two trucks. Now, we don’t generally relate Maruti with safety but Ignis is one of the safer products from house Maruti Suzuki. In this crash, that is the only reason why no one got seriously injured. These images were shared on Facebook along with the post by a certain Prateek Singh. According to the post, the truck hit the car with quite some force from behind and the car eventually crashed into the truck in the front. As a result, the rear of the Ignis has suffered a lot of damage. The entire boot area has been completely crumpled. Thankfully, no one was sitting at the rear. There were only the driver and the passenger in the front seat. It is reported to have occurred in Nainital, Uttarakhand. There were minor injuries to the occupants. These incidents remind us of how important it is to invest in safety equipment and opt for the trims with higher safety kit. The crash of the Maruti Ignis with two trucks emphasizes the value of the 3-star NCAP safety rating.

The Maruti Ignis comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine making 83 hp and 113 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This engine comes mated with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The prices of the Ignis start at Rs 5.10 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 7.47 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals include the likes of Renault Kwid, Hyundai Santro and the recently launched Tata Punch. People also have the option of going for another new launch from Maruti, the Celerio which falls in almost the same price bracket. However, these two cars are quite distinct in their characteristics. It is a matter of preference which one should you go for.
