2022 new Maruti Grand Vitara becomes the second model in the C-SUV segment after Hyundai Creta to offer a panoramic sunroof
In its latest teaser, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has revealed the panoramic sunroof of the new 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara. With this, the new C-SUV has become the first-ever model from the country’s largest carmaker’s portfolio to offer this feature. It is noteworthy here that the Toyota HyRyder-based SUV will debut on July 20. Bookings of the new model have been underway for INR 11,000.

Panoramic Sunroof on 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara
Maruti Suzuki claims that the 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara will have the segment’s largest opening panoramic sunroof. It must be noted that currently, only the Hyundai Creta offers this feature. However, with the advent of the new Vitara, there will be now two offerings in the C1 SUV segment that will offer the XL-size sunroof. In fact, the new offering will become the second offering from Maruti Suzuki to come with a sunroof. The recently launched second-gen Brezza features an electric sunroof. However, the new B-SUV has a single pane sunroof.

Other features of the new offering that have been revealed so far include Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 6-speaker Arkamys audio system, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, HUD, and more. The safety features on offer will include 6 airbags, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Surround View Monitor, Reverse Park Assist, ABS and Vehicle Stability Control.

The 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara will share its powertrain with the Toyota HyRyder. The new model will be available in two variants – Grand Vitara and Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The mild-hybrid variant will be propelled by a 1.5-litre K15C Dualjet VVT petrol engine. The motor will be shared with the likes of the new Brezza and XL6. The motor outputs a maximum power of 102 bhp and a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

The higher variant will feature Toyota’s 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powerplant. The fossil fuel-powered motor will produce 92.5 hp and 122 Nm. The electric motor will produce 80.2 hp and 141 Nm. The combined output will be around 115 hp. The hybrid powertrain will come mated to an eCVT. The mild-hybrid variant will even offer ALLGRIP AWD option. With this, the new offering will become the only SUV in the segment to offer All Wheel Drive. However, AWD will be available only with manual transmission. Also, it won’t be available with the full-hybrid powertrain. There are chances that the 2022 Maruti Grand Vitara will have a base price of Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model will be a replacement for the Maruti S-Cross. Rivals will include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, and Kia Seltos.
