In this post, we shall take a look at the comparison between Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and Brezza CNG. Both these belong to two separate segments in our market. Still, there is a significant overlap in the pricing of the two SUVs, at least in the petrol models. That could make things a bit confusing for the potential customers. Hence, we shall try to highlight the pros and cons of both these SUVs in depth. Grand Vitara CNG is available in two variants – Delta and Zeta. Contrastingly, Brezza CNG is available in three major trims – Lxi, Vxi and Zxi.

Maruti Grand Vitara CNG vs Brezza CNG Comparison – Specs
Let us compare the specifications of the two SUVs. Maruti Grand Vitara CNG comes with a 1.5-litre bi-fuel 4-cylinder engine which makes 87 PS and 121.5 Nm of peak power and torque in the CNG guise. In both variants, the mid-size SUV possesses a 5-speed manual transmission. The official ARAI-rated mileage for the CNG mill is an impressive 26.60 km/kg. That is the main reason why people opt for it. The running costs associated with CNG powertrains are extremely low, especially compared to petrol cars. The CNG capacity is 55 litres (water equivalent).
On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza CNG also draws power from the same 1.5-litre K15C Bi-fuel engine which generates 87 PS and 121.5 Nm of peak power and torque. There is a sole 5-speed manual transmission on offer. In the case of Brezza CNG, the ARAI mileage is 25.51 km/kg. This is slightly lower than that of Grand Vitara. The CNG capacity is also identical to the Grand Vitara at 55 litres (water equivalent). It is interesting to see that the smaller SUV has lower mileage.

Author’s Note
Both these are mighty capable and popular SUVs from the largest carmaker in the country. In fact, they remain at the top of sales charts in their respective segments. Having the option of CNG powertrains is a great alternative for all those who are reeling under the aftermath of the high running costs associated with petrol cars. The infrastructure surrounding CNG stations, at least in large cities, is fairly well-developed, unlike electric vehicle charging stations. Hence, people accept CNG powertrains more readily. These are the advantages of CNG cars. However, one has to compromise on boot space and low power and torque outputs.
Apart from that, choosing between these two depends on your personal preference. If you want a large SUV with a more imposing road presence, and a few more features and are willing to spend some more, going for the Grand Vitara makes a lot of sense. However, if you are on a strict budget and can compromise on the size of the SUV, Brezza is the ideal car. What’s important is the fact that they both get the same engine. Hence, no one has to settle for a different engine.
