Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) debuts the much-awaited Fronx SUV based on the Baleno premium hatchback at the Auto Expo 2023. The Fronx will sit above the Baleno and below the Brezza compact SUV in our market. It is aimed at replacing the S-Cross which, uncharacteristically was among the handful of Maruti products with low sales. Maruti has done enough to distinguish it from the Baleno on which it is based. Bookings for the same have commenced. Here are all the details.

Maruti Fronx SUV Debuts
The crossover SUV comes with a modern design language with LED DRLs mounted on the bonnet and the main headlamp cluster situated at the bumper. There is a large NEXwave grille at the centre with a chrome strip and the Suzuki badge on it. In addition to that, there is a rugged skid plate to affirm that crossover SUV silhouette. On the sides, the Fronx comes with a smart set of alloys accentuating the side profile.

Additionally, the side also gets squared wheel arches and silver side body cladding with a chrome frame under the window. The B and C pillars are finished in black and the roof rails accentuate the SUV traits. At the rear, there is a sleek and attractive LED taillamp design, a shark fin antenna, vertically-oriented reflector lights and a sturdy skid plate. All in all, there are elements of the Grand Vitara from the front but the Fronx is distinguishable from the other products.

On the inside, the Fronx comes equipped with a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ Infotainment System powered by Arkamys, a 360 View Camera, Wireless Charging, Heads-Up Display, TFT Instrument Cluster Next-Gen Suzuki Connect with 40+ Intelligent Connect Car Features, 6-speaker Premium Arkamys Audio System, 6 Airbags, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, Auto IRVM, Hill Hold Assist, all seats have 3-point ELR seat belts and more.

The Maruti Fronx comes powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine that once powered the Baleno RS which makes a cool 100 PS and 147.6 Nm of peak power and torque. Additionally, there is also the option of a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet VVT engine that makes 88 hp and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT and a 6-speed Automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Interestingly, it comes equipped with an all-wheel-drive configuration.
