Maruti Fronx shares aplenty with the Baleno but will be available with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol option along with a 1.2-litre Dualjet VVT K-Series motor
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd hogged all the limelight on the Day-2 of Auto Expo 2023 with the unveiling of the 5-door Jimny and Fronx. The latter is a sub-4-metre offering that is about to make its market debut. To be available at Nexa chain of premium outlets, the upcoming crossover was recently seen undergoing road tests. Interestingly, the display units of the Maruti Fronx have already started reaching the showrooms.

Maruti Fronx Specs and Features
Maruti Fronx will be sold in two engine variants – 1.2-litre Dualjet VVT K-series Petrol and 1.0-litre Boosterjet Turbo-Petrol. The latter was earlier available on the now-defunct Baleno RS. However, the hot hatch version was shelved owing to low demand. Slated to return in a BS6 guise, the 3-cylinder 1.0-litre motor has been localized heavily to keep costs under check. It will offer a maximum power of 100 PS along with a peak torque of 147.6 Nm. Meanwhile, the Baleno-sourced 1.2-litre mill will offer 90 PS and 113 Nm. The more powerful motor will be available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices. On the other hand, the 1.2-litre option will be available with 5-speed manual and AMT options. The 1.2-litre engine variant will be available in three trims – Sigma, Delta and Delta+. The 1.0-litre turbo motor will get Delta+, Zeta and Alpha variants.
Fronx Sigma Features – The entry-level trim will feature halogen projector headlamps, steel wheels with wheel covers, fabric upholstery, electric windows, automatic climate control keyless entry and go, 60:40 split seats, tilt adjustment for steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist and reverse parking sensors.
Delta and Delta+ Features – The next variant will feature a chrome trim for the front grille, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 4-speaker audio system, steering-mounted audio and telephone controls and a rear parcel tray. Additionally, the Delta+ version will have 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlamps and DRLs.

Zeta Features – The pen-ultimate variant features rear wiper and washer, chrome inside door handles, tilt adjustment for steering wheel, height-adjustable driver seat, wireless smartphone charger, 6-speaker audio system, LED light bar on tailgate, coloured MID, central armrest, rear aircon vents, Suzuki Connect, side and curtain airbags and rear view camera.
Alpha Features – The top model will come with 16-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, leather wrapped steering wheel, head-up display (HUD) and 360-degree camera.

Maruti Fronx will launch in April 2023. As seen in this video, the display units of the upcoming model have already reached the Nexa dealerships. Test drives are likely to commence shortly. Prices for the new model are likely to range from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming Maruti car will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue and Renault Kiger.
