Fronx is the new Maruti car in town and we got our hands on it to record our first impressions of the crossover hatchback.
Our first drive review of the Maruti Fronx is out! Fronx is a crossover hatchback that aims to dislodge Tata Punch that has established quite a name for itself in our market recently. Maruti is on a product offensive strategy and Fronx is the latest addition to that list. Apart from that, the Jimny launch is around the corner. Hence, Maruti Suzuki is trying everything to maintain its pole position in our market amidst increasing pressure from other carmakers. Let us see what the Fronx entails.

Maruti Fronx Test Drive Review
On the outside, the Fronx carries a similar design language as the Grand Vitara with sleek LED DRLs on the bonnet and the main headlamp cluster on the bumper below. At the centre, there is a prominent grille that holds the Suzuki logo with a chrome belt on either side and there is a faux skid plate underneath the bumper. On the sides, one gets greeted by elegant and modern 16-inch alloy wheels, side body cladding and roof rails. At the rear, the taillamps are connected via a light bar and the skid plate is sturdy and massive.

Specs
Maruti Fronx will be powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet VVT K-series petrol and a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine making 90 PS / 113 Nm and 100 PS / 147.6 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. You would remember that this turbo petrol used to power the now-discontinued Baleno RS hot-hatch. The regular petrol engine will come with a 5-speed manual or an AMT, while the turbo petrol will have the option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. We drove the more powerful option and were impressed with the linear power delivery and strong mid-range. However, we did miss the all-disc brake setup of the Baleno RS. The dynamics were found to be spot on, with a good balance between confident handling and a comfortable ride. THe increase in the height hasn’t led to a corresponding increase in the body roll, which is pretty impressive. The direct steering and ample grip makes the Fronx a fun car to pilot around the corners. Meanwhile, the ride quality should keep all the occupants happy over most kinds of tarmac. The launch is around the corner which is when we will get to know about the pricing as well. For a detailed report, do watch our video review below –
