Based on Maruti Ertiga
The MPV is based on the Suzuki Ertiga which is already on sale in South Africa. For approximately 5 years, Toyota and Suzuki have engaged in a joint venture. As part of this collaboration, the two companies have agreed to offer badge-engineered products in various markets. In the initial phase of the joint venture, Toyota adopted models from Suzuki in India, such as the Glanza (based on the Baleno) and the Urban Cruiser (derived from the Brezza), marketing them under their own brand. Conversely, Suzuki has benefited by incorporating technology from Toyota and gaining access to new-generation products. This partnership has allowed both companies to leverage each other’s strengths and expand their presence in various automotive markets.

Toyota Rumion Price
Toyota Rumion retails between R296,900 and R351,700. This makes it one of the most affordable 7-seater MPVs in South Africa at the moment. Since it is already on sale there, it is just a matter of time before we get to experience the MPV in India as well. As is the case with most Toyota-Suzuki products, there would hardly be any changes to the exterior and the interior of the MPV once it launches in our market. We shall keep an eye out for the launch of the Ertiga’s Toyota counterpart.
