The new engine uses Dual Mass Flywheel, which helps in reducing the engine fluctuations. Maruti Ertiga now claims to offer a mileage figure of 24.20 kmpl on the diesel variant.
The earlier engine used was the 1.3 Litre DDiS unit. It delivered 89 BHP at 4000 RPM and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 RPM. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The other engine on offer is also the newly developed 1.5 Litre K15B petrol unit. It puts out 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed MT and optional 4-speed Auto transmission.
The petrol engine is now available with Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system. Earlier, it only came on the diesel engines. With the recent decision of discontinuing the diesel engines, Maruti has not introduced the SHVS on the diesel unit.
