Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation iteration of the Ertiga MPV in India this year. With sales already underway in the Indonesian market, we are expecting the Indo-Japanese to launch the new Ertiga in India around the festive season. The latest iteration of this budget MPV boasts of an all-new exterior and interior design along with several other upgrades over the previous one. In fact, the 2018 model year Ertiga is an altogether new product, with this car getting an all-new chassis and engine specifications as well. Design
The design of the new Maruti Ertiga is completely different from the previous generation iteration. The MPV now gets bolder, more premium and appears a segment above in-terms of is aesthetics. Up-front it comes with elongated headlamps with projector units and a smart looking bumper which houses the large fog-lamp housing. The side profile is very simple and yet looks very modern thanks to the sharp creases and bold character lines. At the back is where the design of the Ertiga impresses a lot. It comes with angular tail-lamps which have LED unit in them. In addition to this, the boot-lid also has a stout appearance and looks very premium.

Interiors
The cabin of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga features a modern and crisp look, just like we have seen on recent Maruti cars like the Swift, Ignis and the Dzire. The layout is quite identical to what we see on the Dzire. The steering wheel, which has a flat-bottom is a direct lift from the compact sedan. That said, there is nothing to complain about. By nature, the Ertiga continues to offer seating for 7-seater. The colour scheme is black and beige along with several wood inserts to accentuate the premium appeal.

Features
In addition to this, the range-topping models of the new Ertiga are going to have features like a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a reverse parking camera, parking sensors projector headlamps, LED DRLs to name a few. Apart from these, it is bound to come with features like a leather-wrapped seater wheel and gear knob, beige fabric upholstery, smart key, push-button start-stop, tilt and telescopically adjustable steering wheel among other features. Furthermore, the Ertiga will all the required safety kit as well. As standard, this MPV will have dual-airbags and ABS with EBD along with ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Engine Specifications
In the Indonesian spec model, the Maruti Ertiga’s new generation model comes with a 1.5-litre K15 B petrol engine. It is likely that Maruti will introduce this engine in India as well. The gasoline motor is capable of producing 102BHP along with 150 Nm of peak torque. Maruti will continue to sell the Ertiga with the same 1.3-litre petrol engine. However, a new 1.5-litre diesel engine is bound to come in during the year 2019. As standard, the car will get a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, the car will also have an additional 4-speed automatic transmission with the petrol derivative.

Prices
With all this kit and new upgrades, expect the prices to go up slightly. We estimate that the Maruti Ertiga’s next-generation model will fall in the price bracket of INR 6.5 lakh to 10.5 lakh. With this, it will once again stand as a tough competitor in the budget compact MPV segment in India. Its direct competitors are going to be the Renault Lodgy, Mahindra TUV300 Plus and the likes.
