The spy images and videos of the upcoming fourth-generation Maruti Dzire have been around on the internet as we compare it with the Swift
The fourth-generation Maruti Dzire will demonstrate a huge departure from the design of the existing Swift. This will be the first time since the two have been on sale in India that the exterior styling will be so different. Dzire is the most successful compact sedan in the country. It found application among private buyers, as well as commercial fleet operators. That made it incredibly popular. On the other hand, Swift is one of the most successful hatchbacks in India. Its popularity continues even after being in the country for close to 2 decades. Let us compare the latest iterations of the two vehicles.
2025 New Generation Maruti Swift vs Dzire – Exterior
In the last few days, the internet has been full of leaked images of the new Dzire. This is the first time in its history that it bears a complete departure in terms of design from the Swift. These images showcase the compact sedan while travelling to the dealerships ahead of the launch. At the front, it gets sleek headlamps with multi-console lights, a sleek chrome strip on the grille culminating into the headlamp cluster and a huge Suzuki logo at the centre. The fog lamp housings are compact and the bumper is fresh. On the sides, the overall silhouette is familiar. However, the black B-pillars and new alloy wheels help differentiate it from the outgoing model. Finally, the rear section contains a thick chrome slab on the bootlid culminating into LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna and a new bumper. All in all, the Dzire will be unlike any previous generation models.
On the other hand, the Maruti Swift is not a lot unique in comparison to the outgoing version. At the front, it gets a new sharper headlamp cluster with angular integrated LED DRLs, a large black grille with fog lamps on either side and a sporty bumper with a matte black lower section. On the sides, there are stylish dual-tone alloy wheels, black side pillars and ORVMs with turn indicators. Finally, the tail section contains LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and a rugged bumper. All in all, the hatchback looks sporty with an upright stance.
Maruti Swift vs Dzire – Specs
This is an interesting aspect since both these cars will share the powertrain options. The existing Maruti Swift carries a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol mill which churns out a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. There is either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission option with this mill. In the Swift, the biggest talking point is its extraordinary mileage figures of 24.8 kmpl with the manual version and 25.75 kmpl with the automatic transmission. Apart from that, the Swift is also available with a CNG mill which generates a decent 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of peak power and torque. This is on offer with a sole 5-speed manual gearbox. The largest car marque in the country claims a fuel economy of 26.99 km/kg.
Unsurprisingly, the Maruti Dzire will share the powertrain alternatives with the Swift. Hence, even it will get the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with a similar power and torque output. However, the CNG iteration will arrive at a later stage. Initially, at the launch, we will most likely get the petrol trim with manual and automatic transmissions only. Furthermore, since it will be slightly heavier than the Swift, it is possible that the mileage figures might take a minor dip. Still, the numbers will be the best in the segment.

Interior and Features
On the inside, the overall cabin layout will be quite similar in both these cars. However, the Dzire will set itself apart from the Swift by offering a different theme for the interior. This includes the upholstery and dashboard colour. That is critical to create a distinct cabin vibe. Apart from that, both cars will have tons of modern convenience and safety amenities. The one difference will be that of the electric sunroof. The new Dzire will offer it while the current Swift doesn’t have it.
