Maruti Suzuki has sold 3,00,000 lakh units of its popular sedan, the Ciaz. While this might seem like just another day at the office for the largest carmaker in the country, it is a significant achievement. The sedan segment has slowly been taken over by the compact SUV segment in India. However, just a few years ago, it was the aspirational segment for a whole bunch of people. People used to aspire for products like the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The Skoda Rapid, VW Vento and Toyota Yaris also joined the fray later on but struggled to sell in decent volumes. It was essentially down to the Ciaz, Verna and City trio to carry the segment forward. The case, today, is still the same. These three products are facing the challenge from the compact SUV segment, which is growing exponentially year on year. We don’t know if they will be able to carry the burden for long or not.

3 Lakh Maruti Ciaz Sedan Sold
The Ciaz was launched back in 2014 when the competition was not enormous. It swiftly established itself well in the segment dominated by Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The advantage of owning a Ciaz was the fact that one can be assured of low maintenance costs, feature-packed cabin, reliability of Maruti to name a few. Hence, people started getting attracted to Ciaz and it became a successful product in the segment soon after the launch. As a matter of fact, almost 7 years after the launch, the sales figures are still healthy. The Maruti Ciaz is still sold shoulder to shoulder with the Verna and City. The 3 lakh sales mark is yet another milestone in the glorious legacy of Maruti Suzuki in India.
