After the recently launched Ertiga with 1.5L BS6 petrol engine, Maruti will bring Ciaz too with updated emission norms.
Maruti Suzuki is on fleek rolling out the BS6 engines and their latest product is the 7-seater Ertiga which gets a 1.5L petrol engine. Another car which gets the same capacity petrol engine is their premium sedan, Ciaz, and soon Maruti will bring a BS6 engine on this too.
The Ciaz will be the seventh car from Maruti in total to receive the BS6 petrol engine upgrade after Baleno, Alto Swift, Dzire, WagonR and Ertiga. The K-series, 1.5L four-cylinder, petrol engine which produces 103 bhp at 6,000 rpm with a peak torque of 138 Nm at 6,600 rpm. The engine gets the SHVS (mild hybrid) system too. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter unit. \
Currently, the Ciaz comes in three engine options – one petrol and two diesel engines. And with the upcoming emission norms, both the 1.3L and 1.5L DDiS engines will be discontinued once the emission norms kick in. And it will be left with the sole 1.5L petrol engine then. However, if the demand for diesel engine kicks in then Maruti may bring it back too but that’s a later stage.

The introduction of the BS6 engine will only see a certain amount of price increase and other than that nothing will change. The car gets equipped with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights and more.
On the inside, it gets a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth Connectivity. The Ciaz gets cruise control, leather upholstery, automatic climate control and among other features.
Safety features onboard include ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminders, high-speed alert system, dual front airbags and rear parking sensors. One also gets a reverse parking camera too as a convenience feature.

Maruti Ciaz competes with the likes of Skoda Rapid, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Toyota Yaris. The prices for the same starts at Rs 8.20 lakh for the base trim and the top end costs your around Rs 11.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
