Maruti Suzuki has launched another small car into the Indian market. The new CelerioX is a cross-hatchback based on the regular Celerio. A facelift of the regular offering was launched back in October this year and the ‘X’ adds as another variant to the current lineup. Maruti CelerioX vs Celerio Price Comparison
Identical to the regular Celerio, the CelerioX is available in four variants. The variants on the list are VXi, VXi (O), ZXi and ZXi (O). Following is a breakdown of the features enlisted variant wise with price.
Maruti CelerioX vs Celerio Exterior Design Comparison
The CelerioX is not just a sticker/additional cladding job done to the current Celerio. The front bumper gains from new claddings in the front. The CelerioX features a new black trapezoidal Grille, smoked headlamps, new bumper with plastic cladding and larger fog lamps.
The rear follows an identical makeover with the rear bumper holding additional plastic cladding along with a diffuser. The sides gain front and rear wheel arches cladding, side body cladding and roof-rails. Lastly, the CelerioX will drive on new 14-inch alloy wheels. The ross-hatchback will be available with a choice of five exterior colours – Blue, Brown, White, Grey and the latest edition i.e. Orange.
Maruti CelerioX vs Celerio Interior Design Comparison
On the interior, the CelerioX features an all-black cabin with black seat covers sporting geometric patterns orange accent lines on the front seats. List of interior features includes – steering mounted controls, Keyless entry, blacked out-rear wiper with washer & defogger, height-adjustable driver seat and tilt adjustable steering wheel. These pretty much sums up the interior changes in terms of design and tech on board.

With the additional exterior changes like the addition of all-around claddings, roof rails etc. have led to a slight change in overall dimensions. The length, breadth and height have been increased to 3,715 mm, 1,635mm and 1,565 mm respectively. The wheelbase remains the same as the current Celerio and sits at 2,425 mm. The change in overall dimensions is mostly insignificant as is the makeover.
The ground clearance remains the same, which is, quite frankly, surprising considering that the new model is a cross-hatchbacks. As an example, we are going to compare the Celerio X with the two most popular cross-hatch on sale in India today i.e. Volkswagen CrossPolo and Hyundai i20 Active. While the Volkswagen CrossPolo features similar ground clearance to that of normal polo i.e. 165 mm, the Hyundai i20 Active holds an advantage of 20 mm with a clearance of 190 mm.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio X vs Celerio Specifications Comparison
The Celerio X features identical drivetrain to that of the current version of the Celerio. It will be powered by a 998cc 3-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 67 bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a choice of either 5-speed manual or an option of 5-speed AMT for added convenience.
On the safety front, the Celerio-X will feature a front airbag on the driver’s side and driver seatbelt pretensioner as standard across all variants. The passenger airbag and ABS are available as optional extras.
Maruti CelerioX vs Celerio Comparison Verdict
While the Celerio X is longer(115 mm), wider (35 mm) and higher (5 mm), the change is only due to the additional plastic cladding and roof-rails. The interior space stays unaffected and the changes are limited to visual only. The cross-hatchback trend almost always increases the ground clearance as evidently seen in the case of the Hyundai i20 Active but the Celerio X’s clearance has decreased by 45 mm which is the reason why we can’t consider the upcoming Celerio X in the cross-hatchback segment. We appreciate Maruti’s addition of orange signifies the company’s move towards more young and dynamic audience.
