The Goods and Service Tax (GST) should enable the Government to create a uniform tax structure across the nation. The effect of GST on car prices in India varies across the segments. While most luxury cars have seen significant price drops, even the mass market cars have not remained unaffected. So, basically, this means that popular players, such as Maruti Suzuki, have had to revise prices of all the models in their respective product portfolios. Let’s have a look at the effect on Maruti car prices after GST.

Mostly, Maruti Car Prices after GST implementation have dropped by upto 3%! In a press release issued to us, Maruti has said that it has passed on the entire benefit of GST to its customers. Of course, the price drop on Maruti cars varies across various states. However, it may be noted here that the prices of Ertiga Diesel and Ciaz Diesel have gone up owing to withdrawal of tax concessions. The new prices of Maruti cars came into effect on July 1, 2017.
Maruti Car Prices After GST
The Maruti Alto range is now cheaper by upto Rs 1,000. The high-selling WagonR gets a price cut of upto Rs 2,000 and the Swift, which is set to get an all-new model next year, is now cheaper by upto Rs 3,000. The hot-selling Baleno hatchback is now cheaper by Rs 2,000. The Baleno RS gets a price cut of whopping Rs 32,000. Even the recently launched Dzire compact sedan has seen a price cut of Rs 3,000. The Vitara Brezza, another highly popular model, gets cheaper by upto Rs 9,000. Finally, the S-Cross, which is expected to get a facelift in coming time, now costs upto Rs 37,000 lesser.
While petrol models of the Ertiga and the Ciaz have got cheaper by upto Rs 7,000, there has been a huge increase in the prices of the SHVS-equipped Diesel models. Prices of the Ertiga Diesel and the Ciaz Diesel have gone up by upto Rs 1.06 lakh! The Ciaz SHVS Diesel is now on sale in a price range of Rs 9.42 lakh to Rs 11.44 lakh.
