In this post, I am taking a deep dive into the comparison between Maruti Brezza and Fronx for the price tag of around Rs 10 lakh. While these two are different products, there is a huge price overlap which warrants this comparison. Brezza is a compact SUV which is among the highest-selling vehicles in its segment. The rivals include the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV3XO. On the other hand, the Fronx is a crossover SUV based on the Baleno. It is a rather niche product in our market but has a huge customer base due to the Maruti Suzuki tag. For now, let us compare the two in depth.
Maruti Brezza vs Fronx Price Comparison
I am considering Rs 10 lakh as the budget for the potential buyers. Around this milestone, the Brezza offers its Vxi trim. It retails for Rs 9.70 lakh, ex-showroom. Vxi is a mid-level variant in Maruti’s nomenclature. In fact, it is generally the highest-selling model of any car due to striking great balance between affordability and features. On the other hand, the Delta Plus Turbo version of the Fronx costs Rs 9.72 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, these two trims are almost identically positioned in our market.

Ex-Showroom | Rs 9.70 lakh | Rs 9.72 lakh |
Maruti Brezza vs Fronx Specs Comparison
The Maruti Brezza offers two options to its buyers. Note that there is a single 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which also comes in a bi-fuel (CNG) iteration. In the petrol avatar, this engine outputs a familiar 103 PS and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. In the CNG guise, this same mill is able to generate a usable 87 hp and 121.5 Nm of peak power and torque. The CNG variants are available with a sole 5-speed manual gearbox. The mileage for the petrol manual is 17.38 kmpl, while for the manual automatic, it is 19.8 kmpl. On the other hand, the CNG model offers a mileage of an impressive 25.51 km/kg.
The Fronx comes with two distinct powertrains – a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill producing 90 PS / 113 Nm and 100 PS / 147 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. You can squeeze out a decent mileage of 21.79 kmpl from the manual version and an even better 22.89 kmpl with the AMT automatic. The performance-focused turbo petrol mill can be had with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. It returns a fuel economy of 21.5 kmpl. There is also a CNG version with the 1.2-litre petrol which makes 78 PS and 99 Nm of peak power and torque. Hence, both these vehicles have decent powertrain options with fuel-efficient mills.

Our View
To conclude this comparison, I want to highlight the fact that both these cars come with almost similar features and functions. There are decent safety and connectivity functions which most people will ever need. The price difference is not that much either. You must decide on the basis of exterior appearance and powertrain options. Note that the Fronx comes with the peppy 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill which is more powerful than the standard 1.2-litre unit. On the other hand, the Brezza has the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which generates 3 PS more but 11 Nm less than the Fronx Turbo. I would recommend you test drive these two engines to find out which one you prefer.
