The latest sales numbers reveal that the Maruti Brezza is the top-selling SUV in the country in July 2023, 25% more popular than Tata Nexon. Both these SUVs are volume-churning products for their respective carmakers. These consistently feature on the list of the highest-selling vehicles in our market each month. They belong to the highly popular compact SUV segment. This segment has all major players. The reason for the success of this segment is the fact that the customers get SUVs at affordable prices. Maruti Brezza is Top-Selling SUV
Carmakers have announced their latest sales numbers for the month gone by. Unsurprisingly, Maruti Suzuki has 8 cars in the top 10. This number is a perfect testament to its domination in the Indian market. The Brezza compact SUV sold a staggering 16,543 units in July 2023 compared to just 9,709 in the same month last year. That is a year-on-year growth of a jaw-dropping 70%. Such astronomical numbers are not all that common at this volume in this segment. Topping this list is Maruti Swift with 17,896 units followed by the Maruti Baleno premium hatchback with 16,725 units.

Compact SUV Segment
July 2022 | July 2023 | YoY Growth | |

Tata Nexon | 14,214 units | 12,349 units | -13% |
The compact SUV segment is one of the fastest-growing categories in the Indian automobile market. In the last few years, almost all major players have their products in this space. While the Brezza is the top-selling SUV in July, Tata Nexon is the second product in this space. Tata was able to sell 12,349 units of the Nexon last month. Unfortunately, it sold 14,214 units in the July of 2022 making a significant 13% decline in year-on-year sales. The reason for that is quite simple. Maruti introduced a new model of the Brezza with new-age features taking away the customers from other products in the segment.

Interestingly, the newly launched Fronx sold an impressive 13,220 units in July 2023. This is quite high considering the space in which it exists. Moreover, Maruti has its own cars which could be alternatives to the Fronx like the Baleno and Brezza. Still, these numbers represent the mad popularity Maruti cars have in our market. Maruti Grand Vitara mid-size SUV sold a respectable 9,079 units in the same month. The Hyundai Exter has impressed everyone with 7,000 units dispatched in the first month of sales already.
