Maruti Suzuki is all-in on the trend of the SUVs in India which has been going on for a while. But Maruti had to sit out of that race because of a lack of products which is about to change now.
The Maruti Baleno-based crossover SUV was recently spied by the good folks at Autocar India. Also, its launch is reportedly programmed for Feb 2023. Maruti might be late to this SUV party that has been happening for a few years now. However, it has come with all guns blazing. It already had the Brezza compact SUV on the market. The upcoming Grand Vitara will aim to capture the mid-size SUV segment, while this crossover SUV will offer the public yet another option in the SUV space.

The crossover SUV is internally named YTB. It is based on the Heartect platform that underpins the Baleno. The design of the crossover seems to be inspired by the Futuro-e concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. The spy images reveal the headlamp setup which consists of LED DRLs on the bonnet and the main headlight cluster on the bumper below, a massive front grille with chrome dots, LED DRLs integrated into the headlamp cluster, stylish alloy wheels, a sporty bumper with skid plate and prominent wheel arches.

The silver skid plate is more prominent in the digital version and the front grille looks almost similar to this spied version. The spied version also reveals the silhouette which is more crossover/coupe SUV as opposed to a brut SUV. It will be positioned above the Baleno in our market and most likely unveiled at the Auto Expo to be held in January 2023 with the launch following in February.
