Maruti has updated the Baleno premium hatchback even in the base Sigma trim. Underpinned by Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform, Baleno is the most popular and highest-selling premium hatchback in the country ever since its inception. It rivals the likes of the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in our market. Maruti has upgraded the Baleno with numerous segment-first features in its latest version, enhancing the overall appeal and making it a more enticing choice for potential buyers. Maruti Baleno Base Sigma Model

In the stock settings, the Baleno has projector headlamps with halogen turn indicators, a black grille and body-coloured door handles with matte black ORVMs. It misses out on dedicated foglamps. At the rear, there are four reverse parking sensors mounted on the bumper. Also, this base trim comes with 15-inch steel wheels.

On the inside, the biggest change includes three headrests for the rear passengers, idle start/stop function and traction control as standard now. The aim is to enhance safety even in this base model. Apart from that, it gets a flat-bottom steering wheel, MID, automatic air conditioning, silver accents on the dashboard, dual tone door panels with soft fabric, central locking, all four power windows, manual IRVM, 12V charging socket at the rear, optional sporty seat covers and more.

The Baleno is equipped with the familiar 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet VVT petrol engine. This mill delivers a respectable 90 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. Buyers have the flexibility to choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT automatic transmission. The prices range from Rs 6.61 lakh to Rs 9.88 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes it one of the most prominent value-for-money propositions in the segment.
