In an impressive display of authority, Maruti Suzuki Arena has sold 70 lakh cars in just 6 years of its existence. Note that MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) sells cars in our country under two divisions – Arena and Nexa. The former takes care of the traditional high-volume budget cars like the Alto K10, Swift, Celerio, Ertiga, etc. On the other hand, the Nexa dealerships are designed for relatively more premium products like the Baleno, XL6, Fronx, Jimny, Invicto etc. The sole Arena division has been selling a whopping 133 cars per hour for the last 6 years. This is quite impressive. Here are the details.

Maruti Arena Sells 70 Lakh Cars
Note that Maruti has an extensive and dense dealership and service centre network in India. It has been operational for decades now and has been the biggest carmaker in the country since its inception. Today, there are 2,853 Arena outlets across 2,392 cities in the country. Under its Arena sub-brand, there are 9 models on sale. Interestingly, 6 out of the top 10 most sold cars in 2022 were from the Maruti Arena division. That just goes to show how popular these products are. The Arena was introduced back in 2017.
On this special occasion of completing 70 lakh sales, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited commented, “Driven by the idea of offering tailor-made experiences, the ARENA channel has been able to touch the lives of over 7.05 million customers, in just six years. This is a true testament to the customer’s trust and confidence in the channel, encouraging us to meet and exceed their expectations.” In FY23-24 (till July), Maruti Arena has a 29% market share. That is simply mind-boggling to think.

What We Think
We are not surprised by Maruti Suzuki Arena hitting this unbelievable number. In all honesty, it was just a matter of time. Maruti Suzuki has been the largest carmaker in the country since its inception. Bifurcating its brand into Arena and Nexa divisions didn’t fundamentally change anything about the business. People still consider all these as Maruti products and continue to buy them for the low running costs, access to a dense dealership network, high mileage, etc. Therefore, we expect this growth to continue in times to come. To Maruti’s credit, it keeps updating the models from time to time to keep them fresh.
