The next-generation Maruti Alto is expected to launch in India this year based on a new platform and with a completely new identity.
By October 2019, new regulations for vehicular safety will be implemented in our country. Under these regulations, in addition to having certain active and passive safety features, car’s must adhere to a certain fixed set of crash regulations before there can retail in our country. Some of the models which are currently on sale in our country does not meet these regulations and hence face the sword of discontinuation unless their respective manufacturers upgrade them in accordance with the set norms.
One such example is the Maruti Suzuki Alto which in its current iteration is not going to meet the new crash test regulations. Since this product is one of the largest selling models for the Indo-Japanese automaker, discontinuation of the same does not make any sense. Hence the obvious solution is to upgrade the same in accordance with the new crash test norms.
