Maruti Suzuki has launched the new 2012 Maruti Alto 800 in India just 4 days back and it has pre-orders of over 10,000 customers who have booked their cars even before the official price announcement. Maruti seems very optimistic about the sales volumes of the new Alto 800 and expects to sell over 20,000 units per month on an average as per its sales forecast for the Alto 800 as revealed during the Alto 800 launch press conference in New Delhi India.
In an event organized on 19th October 2012 in Malappuram, Maruti Suzuki delivered 200 cars of Alto 800 at its sales outlets in Kottakkunnu in Mallapuram distt, near Calicut, Kerala to the customers in a single day which is quite a large number and an achievement in itself for Maruti Suzuki. Its first time in India that so many cars are delivered to customers at the same time at a single dealership.
New Alto 800 has been priced quite aggressively at Rs. 2.44 Lakhs for the base variant and it uses the tried and tested FD8 engine of old Alto with some improvements both in terms of mileage and fuel economy.
