The festive season of Diwali is a few weeks away and Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the very special Maruti Alto 800 just ahead of it. The official launch date for the new Alto 800 model is expected to be 16th of October, 2012 and for sure, Maruti is betting big on this car. A short white back we brought you the exclusive scoop pictures of the Alto 800 and just days back we reported that Maruti is going to export the car to Africa and Latin America.
Now what we have, is probably the most interesting news yet. Maruti has started taking bookings for the Alto 800 well ahead of its official launch and the teaser website for the same is already live.
Maruti Suzuki is very confident about the Alto 800 as it is based on the tried and tested platform of the popular Alto K10. The car will be priced close to Rs.2.5 lakhs and will be offered with CNG option as well, which will be priced close to Rs.3 lakhs.
With almost two full weeks to go before the car is introduced, the company wants to get enough sales to feel motivated. Competition wise, it is known that in this price segment it is the Nano and Eon which the company needs to beat and even we are confident that it will outperform the two in a relatively shorter period of time.

The car is powered by the familiar 796 CC, 3 cylinder petrol engine which features minor yet significant improvements for better power output and fuel efficiency. The engine will offer better torque and an impressive ARAI certified mileage of 23.27 KMPL.
Talking about the looks of the same, from the front the car seems to have taken inspiration from the Ford Figo, while at the rear it resembles the i10. All in all it isn’t a revolutionary design but something that will work well in this price segment.
