Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India’s leading car manufacturer is going to launch R3 Concept MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) in 2010 Auto Expo. This R3 concept MPV will be the first Indian designed MPV-family car from of Maruti Suzuki.
The evolution of R3 is unique and important because it has been conceptualized, Designed & built from a scratch by Indian designers team within a short period of nine months.
R3 concept will be the second concept after A-star displayed in 2008 Auto Expo. Along with 6 seater concept MPV Maruti will be going to display 16other car models including next company’s family car, Eeco, and the luxury sedan Suzuki Kizashi.
The concept R3 is talked about having the same K-series engine that is coming in the modern Maruti cars like Maruti A-Star and Maruti Ritz. It will have a 1.2 L / K Series engine with 67BHP as mad power and 101NM torque.
It falls in a segment which will compete with cars like Mahindra Xylo. As this is a concept and has not been in production yet, so we can’t say how it will compete in its segment. Also the price of R3 is speculated to be around 4 Lakhs Indian rupees, which sounds bit challenging to me as I feel that car of this capacity should come around 5 Lakhs or more, but you never know how it might surprise people with a competitive pricing.
