There are all sorts of people performing utter nonsense on the roads. Most of them do such acts just to create viral content these days. Man Drives Car Using Winch To Steer
This post comes from swift_lover0037 on Instagram. It captures the entire chain of events vividly. The man is driving on a narrow street where cars are parked on both sides of the road. Therefore, one needs to be careful anyway. However, there is no steering wheel on this car. The man is holding a winch in his hand. He has attached it to the centre of the rod connecting the steering to the wheels. Using this, he is steering the vehicle. This is quite scary and ridiculous. There is traffic coming from the opposite direction. Furthermore, there are people walking on the road close to the car as well.

Such desi jugaads can be quite innovative or fatal. There is a thin line dividing the two. India is home to the concept of jugaad – the ability to accomplish a task at any cost using the available resources and deploying creativity. But it also means that these solutions are not sturdy or professional. Hence, the chances of failure are also high. In some conditions, the margin for error is quite tiny. We must not apply such flimsy solutions to scenarios where they can jeopardize our safety and the safety of everyone around us.

Unfortunately, I have reported innumerable cases involving such a mentality. While it may attract applause from some people on the internet, the ground reality is different. This act is purportedly risking the lives of everyone on the road. Clearly, the man could lose control of the steering at any time. The cars are parked so close on both sides and the street is narrow. There are people walking on this narrow road. Therefore, anything could go wrong in a blink of an eye.
