An impressive case has emerged where a man builds a Mercedes G63 AMG from an old Mitsubishi Pajero. What is the most intriguing aspect of this case is that the SUV is made up of wood entirely. The creator says that after a Mercedes G63 splashed water on him while he was cycling, he got the motivation to create the G-Wagon himself using wood and his old SUV. I reckon that is just a storyline for the video. The man is a genius when it comes to creating art from wood. In fact, he has created all sorts of cars from wood in the past.
Mercedes G63 AMG from Old Mitsubishi Pajero
This video comes from ND – Woodworking Art on YouTube. The host strips down his old Pajero in the first part of the video. But it is not just a basic strip down. He takes apart literally every bolt of the Pajero including the body panels, steering wheels, seats, roof, dashboard, etc. Once only the faint structure of the SUV is left, he commences his wooden magic. He created metallic panels on which he could construct the wooden body. Thereafter, he carved out body panels to shape it like a G-Wagon. I must admit he nailed the appearance and there was no flaw in the design. After the exterior was complete, he worked on the interior.
For that, he made wooden boards which covered the dashboard area, steering wheel, and a lookalike central console with turbine AC vents. He even installed a film which replicates the infotainment display. Furthermore, he designed the seats from wood, along with door panels and a central armrest. I particularly love the sunroof. After installing the headlamps, indicators and ORVMs, he paints the exterior. There are large tyres with retro wheel covers. Finally, he takes his children out on the road in it. Since this is a wooden car, he is driving extremely slowly and cautiously. In all honesty, one can’t easily tell from the outside that this is a wooden car. This project took him 180 full days to reach fruition.
Our View
I must mention that it makes no sense to drive a wooden car out on the road. Having said that, I feel the major takeaway from this video is the fact that the man is so ridiculously talented with wooden art that he can create just about anything in the world. Hence, we must celebrate the dedication to his craft. I have even reported a similar case from this man in the past. He has the capabilities to replicate just about any car out there irrespective of how complicated the design is. I hope he gives hopes and inspiration to others to follow their passion.
