Mahindra & Mahindra is not an unfamiliar name to us since it has been appreciated at times and again, for cars like the Mahindra Scorpio which was the most adored SUV, Mahindra Logan and a few others. Recently the company had also come up with a small pick-up truck Mahindra Maxximo, seen as a potential vehicle.
Apart from all these cars the latest addition to the brand’s line-up was the Mahindra Xylo, and SUV launched to retain the place of the Scorpio,in the Indian SUV segment after the company stopped producing the latter. More than an SUV the Scorpio and Xylo and considered to an MPV(Multi Purpose Vehicle) as one can use them for several purposes depending on the circumstances.
Now the company is focusing on a Hybrid variant(alike the Hybrid Bolero Maxitruck and Scorpio) of the Xylo known as the Mahindra Xylo Micro Hybrid, which the same plans to introduce by 2010 end.
“We plan to launch the Xylo micro-hybrid before the end of the year. A lot of work is going on at the moment and the launch of the new Reva NXR and NXG should be by Q4 of 2011,” quoted Mr. Pawan Goenka, Mahindra & Mahindra president.
Mahindra Micro Hybrid Technology
Mahindra’s Micro Hybrid is a technology which emphasizes on saving fuel under Start-Stop conditions. The system has been designed to save as much fuel as possible in situations wherein the car’s engine becomes idle. If the engine runs idle for more than 30 seconds the system turns off the engine and to restart it one simply needs to press the throttle and get going. The system is very useful in urban traffic conditions where such start-stop scenarios are common and one can barely avoid such.
We truly hope that the future cars from Mahindra come equipped with this technology and the customers save more and more fuel and contribute their bit for a better future.
