The Mahindra XUV700 is finally on display at the authorized dealerships and the interested can finally have a look and feel of the car. Of course, the SUV has already garnered a lot of attention due to the several segment-first features it comes. One such feature is the smart door handles, which are available right from the base MX models. A short video below shows the same.

It should be mentioned here that the Mahindra XUV700 has become the first-ever mainstream car on sale in the country to offer these very stylish flush-fitting door handles. However, they are electrically operated only if you opt for the Luxury Pack available on the top-spec AX7 version for Rs 1.8 lakh extra. Else, you’ll have to operate the handles manually by pushing and pulling them. The same can be seen in the video we have above.
However, a problem here is that you can’t push them back into place unless the door is properly closed. This is something that has left many confused as they expect the handles to get back to their flush-fitting position once the door has been opened. In the video that we have above, you can see a man trying to push the handles back into place after having opened the door. Little does he know however that it is not possible to do so unless the door has been closed. What is, however, interesting that the same could not be told to him even by the dealership employees.
