The Mahindra XUV700 offers many unique features, seen in luxury cars. However, the new SUV is far from being a perfect vehicle. Is It Worth The Wait?
The Mahindra XUV700 is the highlight of the company’s product portfolio. It comes in diesel and petrol variants with manual and automatic options, and with 5 and 7-Seater capacity. There is also an optional All-Wheel- Drive (AWD) spec. Additional features include Smart Door Handles, built-in Alexa integration, Intelligence AdrenoX, a 3D Sound System with 12 speakers, and more. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the top-end Mahindra XUV700 Petrol variant (automatic).
The popular SUV offers many unique features, rarely found in its price segment. This includes the example, the ADA system, late departure assist, automatic braking, and adaptive cruise control. The Cruise control is a great feature, however, if the car in front of you slows down, you have to turn it off and vice-versa. The adaptive cruise control solves this problem. For example, if you have set the cruise control to 60kmph and the car in front of you slows down to 40kmph, the adaptive feature automatically slows down your car till there is an appropriate distance between your SUV and the vehicle in front of you.

Another great feature of the Mahindra XUV700 is the dual-zone climate control. This feature is usually found in luxury cars. It allows you to keep the different temperatures on the driver and passenger sides. For example, if the river prefers a warm temperature and the passenger likes it a little colder, they can set it as per their individual preferences. The infotainment system and the instrument cluster are put together on a single screen to offer a unique look.
The Mahindra XUV700 also comes with a panoramic sunroof. The large sunroof is quite well-designed. It is complemented by the width of the SUV itself. up to three passengers can comfortably sit in the back, without feeling cramped. The new SUV is also super silent. The insulation of the engine bay prevents any noise or vibrations in the passenger area. Another feature, Mahindra borrows from luxury cars is the memory seats. It offers three different memory settings. Three users can adjust the seat and save it to the memory. Then, all you need is to press one button to adjust the seat.

Apart from convenience features, the new SUV offers great suspension and handling. Despite being a large vehicle, the body roll is quite well controlled. The well-tuned suspensions offer a very comfortable ride. It can be used as a family car without any problems. Additionally, the ground clearance allows you to take the Mahindra XUV700 on tough roads. You can easily for mountainous areas or soft-roading. However, since it is not a 4 x 4, it is not recommended to go for proper offroading.
One of the most important aspects of any car is its safety rating. Everyone wants to spend money on a car that is safe for them and their family. In case of any mishappening, the occupants should stay safe. In this aspect, the Mahindra XUV700 comes with a pretty good safety rating. Finally, the new SUV comes with an aggressive price. Even the lower-end variant offers good suspension, safety, and space at a reasonable price.

On the negative side, the Mahindra XUV700 has several things to nitpick. For example, the new car has a small headroom. It might be a little uncomfortable for people taller than 6 feet. Also, the SUV offers a real-world mileage of 10 (can go up to 12-13 on the highway). The running cost of the petrol variant might be quite high for some consumers. Additionally, the company has not offered an option of ventilated seats, which is quite useful in a hot country like India.
The seats are also offered in a light color, which is not ideal for a dusty environment like India. The company is not offering a dark option for interiors. Also, the middle seats are not slidable to offer extra space. This is not suitable for a three-row-seat car. The boot space is also quite small. While it is good enough for 5 people, it might not have enough space for seven people and their luggage.

Also, the inside rear-view mirror also lacks an auto-dimming feature, usually found in expensive SUVs. Mahindra is also not offering sun-curtains either. In terms of driving, the new SUV does not come with paddle shifters, usually found in automatic cars. While the car offers a good throttle response, users will miss the feel of a sporty vehicle.
Apart from the specs, the Mahindra XUV700 also has a long waiting period. The supply chain is already constrained due to a semi-conductor shortage. Additionally, due to high demand, the customers are getting waiting periods as long as a year. Despite being a value-for-money SUV, the Mahindra XUV700 will not be readily available for a while.
In conclusion, the popular SUV offers a great driving experience. It comes with good throttle response, power delivery, and ambiance. While the fuel mileage is slightly less, it offers enough good features and safety ratings. In its budget segment, the Mahindra XUV700 is a solid option. However, it lacks certain desirable features like ventilated seats. We expect the company to add new features and improvements on the pros and cons of the Mahindra XUV700.
