Mahindra had announced as many as 5 new electric cars for the next three years in the Indian automobile market.
The first new-age electric car from the Indian auto giant would be the Mahindra XUV700 EV. Despite the scheduled launch of the EV in December 2024, sightings of the vehicle undergoing road testing have already occurred. Mahindra has recognized the unavoidable shift towards electric mobility in the future, leading the company to fully commit to this direction. As evidence of their dedication, they have revealed plans to introduce a total of 5 all-electric SUVs by 2026. These vehicles will be built upon a specialized electric platform and offer robust powertrains along with impressive range capabilities. Here is an imagined version of the same.

Mahindra XUV700 EV Imagined
The video has been uploaded by Bagrawala Designs on YouTube. The visuals clearly indicate how well thought-out this iteration is. At the front, one could clearly see the modern design approach adopted by the Indian auto giant in its latest cars. This includes a sleek LED light bar that runs across the width of the face, flanked by 7-shaped LED DRL units. The main headlamp cluster is encapsulated within the LED DRLs. Apart from that, there is a massive sealed-off area as EVs don’t need fresh air. There are gold accents on the skid plate. The side profile is reminiscent of the existing model in terms of the shape but the futuristic alloy wheels inform its electric credentials. Similarly, the real profile is also inspired by the existing model save for a few minor tweaks here and there.

In terms of charging capabilities, fast charging plays a crucial role in the EV industry, and the Mahindra SUVs will support 175 kW DC fast charging, enabling a charging time of under 30 minutes for a 5-80% charge. The power output of these vehicles will range from 285 PS (RWD) to 394 PS (AWD), making them remarkably quick and capable.

What We Think
The fact that the future of mobility is electric is beyond any doubt now. Tata Motors has already taken a lead in this regard by grabbing a huge chunk of the market share already. Mahindra might be late to the party, but it looks like it will adopt the product offensive strategy by launching new electric SUVs in the next three years. By the looks of it, these SUVs will span across various segments to cater to a wide range of audiences. We shall have to wait until next year to see the first product on our roads.
