Back when the prices of the Mahindra XUV700 were announced last week, one thing that disappointed many was the non-availability of the Luxury Pack on the manual and AWD variants of AX7 trim. Now, however, it looks like Mahindra has been very quick to listed to the buyers and has hence added the Luxury Pack option to the Diesel Manual as well as the Diesel AT AWD version.

Bookings for the new model will start at all the authorized dealerships across the country on October 7, 10 AM. Equipped with the Luxury Pack worth Rs 1.8 lakh, the diesel-manual variant of the Mahindra XUV700 costs Rs 19.99 lakh. On the other hand, the diesel AWD version with Luxury Pack has become the new top-spec model priced at Rs 22.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, in spite of this model become the flagship version of the XUV700, it’s still cheaper than the top-spec XZA+ variant of the Tata Safari Gold Edition by Rs 30,000.
So, what this means is that you get many more features as well as an AWD system for lesser money. You also get a more powerful engine. The Tata Safari Gold Edition comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 170 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. On the other hand, the XUV700 comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm. Both the motors come mated to a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

The Luxury Pack-equipped Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Diesel AT AWD even gets more features than the Tata Safari Gold Edition. The features list on offer here includes a 12-speaker Sony 3D sound system, Level 1 ADAS, 360-degree surround view camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, electric smart door handles, blind spot monitoring system, driver knee airbag, continuous video recording and wireless charging. Most of these aren’t available on the Safari Gold Edition but one important feature that the Tata flagship has over the Mahindra flagship is that of the ventilated seats for the first two rows of seats.
