Mahindra has showcased what seems to be the much anticipated Mahindra XUV700 at the Auto Expo 2018. But the catch here is that Mahindra seems to have not named it officially as yet as the media announcement called this SUV as “Ssangyong G4 Rexton With Mahindra Badging”! Is that a real name? Well, no, Mahindra is probably still working on the nameplate for what has been popularly known as the XUV700 for quite some time now.
The Ssangyong G4 Rexton is a popular SUV with many global awards to its name and is loaded with plenty of features. It is well known for its style, safety and build quality.
In terms of powertrains, it will be powered by a 2.2 Litre Diesel engine with 178 BHP of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 7 Speed Mercedez Benz automatic transmission system.
In terms of features, it has HID headlamps, LED DRLs, electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS support, 9 Airbags for safety and a lot more.
Mahindra may bring the SUV to Indian soil with some badging changes only. Though it may not be named as the Mahindra XUV700 as we have been expecting earlier.
Mahindra XUV700 Price
We expect Mahindra to price its upcoming SUV around INR 25 lakh while rivalling the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour in the higher segment and the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass with the lower variants. Codenamed Y400, the upcoming Fortuner rival from Mahindra will be imported as CKD and assembled locally. Further R&D is being done on the Rexton to make it more India friendly and to eradicate any issues that could creep into overtime.
