The cases of ADAS misuse of Mahindra XUV700 continue. XUV700 is the flagship SUV in Mahindra’s portfolio. As a result, it has been equipped with the latest tech, connectivity, safety and convenience features to pamper its occupants. ADAS is a prime example of that. That is the reason for the mad success it has enjoyed in our market ever since its launch. In fact, there are still long waiting times for some variants in some cities. However, some owners are often seen not using the ADAS features like they are meant to. Here is one such case.

Mahindra XUV700 ADAS Misused
This post comes from wepanwarx on Instagram. It captures a case of people abusing the ADAS of the XUV700. There are two people driving on the road. They are testing the Lane Keep Assist function of the ADAS. In this, the electronics read the lane markings on the roads and ensure that the vehicle remains in its own lane. Moreover, it can also steer the car if there are curves on the road. But it is always recommended by the carmakers to never take your eyes off the steering wheel and eyes off the road. In this case, the driver is taking his hand off the steering wheel.

The vehicle is moving out of the lanes on multiple occasions. The issue here could be the fact that this is not a highway. While there are lane markings, they are not consistent. There are things lying around on the road which are covering the markings at various places. As a result, it becomes dangerous to use ADAS on such poorly marked roads. The caption of this post reads, “Never Trust Technology”. We must take these things seriously. There is no logic in purposely relying completely on technology. These features are meant to intervene in emergency cases when the driver is not able to react quickly enough. They are not meant to substitute the driver.

What We Think
Every year, we sadly lose thousands of lives because of accidents on the roads. Many of these accidents happen because people don’t pay enough attention and don’t follow the rules for driving. This new case is a good example of that. We want to tell our readers that it’s really important to always obey the rules of the road. This will help reduce the chances of bad things happening. It’s about time we start doing this seriously. Also, the features in a car that help in emergencies are there to help the driver, not to replace them. If you see someone doing things on the road that they shouldn’t, please tell the authorities so they can do something about it.
