The new base model of the Mahindra XUV700 7-seater has been launched in India. XUV700 is the flagship model in Mahindra’s portfolio for the past few years. It offers tons of modern amenities, the savvy tech and convenience features, the latest active safety equipment, as well as practicality to the owners. That is what led to the popularity of this SUV. In order to reach a wider range of audience, Mahindra has now introduced a new base model with the 7-seat configuration. In this manner, even more customers will be able to benefit from the enhanced practicality and space inside the cabin.
New Mahindra XUV700 7-Seater Base Model

The SUV gets halogen headlamps, a sporty bumper, the latest grille, 17-inch steel rims, flush-fitting door handles, a regular antenna, a skid plate, wheel arches with black cladding and more. Mostly, the changes to the exterior are limited. Once inside the cabin, you get to witness a part-digital driver’s instrument cluster, a small touchscreen infotainment display, a textured and layered dashboard with black, silver and beige colour theme, physical buttons for HVAC with chrome finish, fabric seats, silver door handles, third row with AC vents and blower control, etc. It gets the basic functions to keep people comfortable.
Price and Specs
The base Mahindra XUV700 7-seater has an enticing starting price of Rs 14.49 lakh for petrol and Rs 14.99 lakh for diesel. Both these prices are ex-showroom. The petrol model is Rs 50,000 more expensive than the base 5-seat version, while the diesel bears a premium of just Rs 40,000 over the base trim.

In terms of specifications, the petrol mill is the 2.0-litre mStallion 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which generates an impressive 200 PS and 380 Nm, while the 2.2-litre mHawk 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine is offered in a lower state of tune in this variant, generating a decent 155 PS and 360 Nm of peak power and torque. There are 6-speed manual transmissions available with both these models. Hence, the buyers can boast the most powerful engine in the segment with the petrol mill and a cost-efficient turbo diesel mill as well.

Our View
I believe that introducing a new base model is definitely going to enhance the financial feasibility for a whole bunch of new buyers. That is what Mahindra must’ve had in mind while developing these new base models with petrol and diesel engines. The combination of practicality and affordability should ideally be a recipe for success and sales. Still, we shall have to wait to see how well the customers embrace these new base models of the Mahindra XUV700 7-seater.
