The upcoming all-new Mahindra XUV500 is one of the most anticipated vehicles of 2021. Impressed by Mahindra’s safety-oriented engineering and ultra-modern technology and features, we can’t wait to see the XUV500 in flesh. The spy images of the XUV500 have been shown before as well, where the visuals show large touchscreen infotainment and instrument cluster in a bit camouflaged way. This time around, however, the spy video shows the entire infotainment display and the instrument cluster in action undisguised. By the looks of it, it appears ultra-modern as we already know that the XUV500 might come with level 1 Autonomous Driving Assistance System (ADAS) features. Let us see what is expected from the upcoming 7-seat SUV rivaling the recently launched, Tata Safari and Hector Plus!

2021 Mahindra XUV500 – Spy Video – Interiors
The video clearly shows a free-standing and large Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System at the centre console. We expect all the modern connectivity features to be present including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth Connectivity, Wireless Charging, Large Panoramic Sunroof. The video also shows a large Digital Instrument Cluster with sharp graphics. There are rumours of a ton of modern features including ADAS functions, which will be displayed in detail on this digital touchscreen. The various buttons for multiple functions are also visible on the steering wheel. The steering wheel itself is very sporty with a flat bottom and probably a chrome-insert as the third spoke. The chrome belt surrounding the window frame is also visible in the video, which will give it a striking bold exterior appearance. Considering the features and safety in its younger sibling, the XUV300, we expect extended features and a safety list on the XUV500 as well. Last time around, we managed to get a peek in the large boot and rear seat area of the Mahindra XUV500. We have no doubt that the product will be worth waiting for.
2021 Mahindra XUV500 – Expected engine options
In terms of engine, it will be exciting because of the introduction of a new family of mStallion engines in the Mahindra family. The XUV500 will get the most powerful engine developed by Mahindra. This will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine producing a colossal 190hp and 380Nm. This engine will make the XUV500 the most powerful SUV in its segment. It is likely to come also in a diesel guise with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual or an automatic. However, the only point of worry for Mahindra at the moment is the delay in manufacturing due to the global semi-conductor shortage. That is likely to affect Mahindra’s launch plans.

2021 Mahindra XUV500 – Expected prices and competition
The Mahindra XUV500 will be a 7-seat SUV from the carmaker with all the latest features and conveniences, along with powerful modern engines. We expect the price range to remain between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 21 lakh, ex-showroom. This will put the XUV500 exactly in the sweet spot to compete against the likes of Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. These two will be its direct and major rivals that have shown positive sales for the month of February. It will be interesting to watch if Mahindra XUV500 could grab some market share from these two popular 7-seat SUVs.
