Mahindra and Mahindra has launched the Mahindra XUV500 in only 5 cities of India on the official launch ceremony in Pune on 28th September 2011 which are – Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Pune. With an initial production capacity of 2000 units per month, Mahindra had earlier planned for an all India launch by end of year 2011. But with its lucrative pricing and class leading features, the XUV500 has brought an overwhelming response and there has been over 5000 bookings within about a week of launch. This heavy booking at waiting period has prompted M&M to take immediate steps to increase the production in the coming months and clear the backlog so that there is low waiting period. As an impact of the high bookings, Mahindra and Mahindra President Pawan Goenka has officially announced that the pan-India launch of the XUV500 will be delayed by up to 3 months under the present situation.
This extra time will give M&M a chance to increase the production capacity and clear the existing backlog of pending deliveries so that the pan-India launch does not cause the waiting period to shoot further. The Mahindra XUV500 is a high value proposition for SUV and MPV buyers and its generating a lot of interest and demand from the buyers.
