The Mahindra XUV300 Automatic in a diesel variant which was spied testing earlier has been fully revealed in a video much ahead of launch.
Earlier, we had reported that a Mahindra XUV300 was spotted testing under heavy camouflage and considering that Mahindra had announced that an automatic version of the XUV300 was on the cards, we expected it to be the same. Now we can confirm that the spotted vehicle was the AMT version and here we have a video with a detailed look at the automatic gearbox.
As seen in the video, the AMT gearbox is a 6-speed unit which has an automatic mode as well as a manual mode with the conventional tiptronic gear lever. There also seems to be what we are speculating to be a sports mode but not much information is available about it right now.

We had also speculated that the AMT gearbox was being tested with the diesel variant of the Mahindra XUV300. Now, we can confirm on that news that it is indeed the diesel variant with which the AMT gearbox will be offered first. A petrol automatic could also follow some time later. Mahindra is also planning to introduce an AMT gearbox in the Marazzo which is powered by a diesel engine. The XUV300 uses the same 1.5L, diesel engine and chances are this same AMT gearbox will also make its way into the Marazzo.
The 1.5L, diesel engine churns out a maximum power output of 115 bhp at 3750 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque between 1500 – 2500 rpm. There’s also a 1.2L, three cylinder, turbocharged, petrol engine which produces 110 bhp of maximum power at 5000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque between 2000 – 3500 rpm.

Mahindra had recently announced that the XUV300 has recieved over 26,000 bookings in just two months after its launch in February. That also makes the XUV300 the second best selling compact SUV in the segment. With the addition of the automatic gearbox, the sales of the XUV300 are expected to boost further as the demand for automatics have been rising and all other cars in the segment too come with an automatic gearbox.
