With the introduction of AMT gearbox in the mid-spec variant, the compact SUV is still pricier when compared to Maruti Suzuki Brezza AMT and Tata Nexon AMT.
Mahindra has recently launched a new variant to the XUV300 lineup, the W6 AMT. The price starts at Rs 9.99 lakh which makes it the most affordable automatic trim as it is Rs 1.50 lakh cheaper than the W8 Trim.
Mahindra XUV300 W6 AMT is only available in the diesel engine. The Magnetti-Marelli sourced 5-speed automated manual unit sits at a premium of Rs 50,000 towards its manual counterparts.
The engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit which produces 115 bhp with a peak torque of 300 Nm. The AMT gearbox is tuned in such a way that it gives a quick acceleration if you’re overtaking on the highways.

The XV300 W6 AMT also gets additional features like Hill Assist and Electronic Stability Control. The rest of the features like dual front airbags, seat belt reminders, high speed alert system, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and rear parking sensors are available.
Feature-wise, the AMT spec is similar to the manual counterpart. It gets 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, follow me headlamps, multi-function steering wheel, rear spoiler and roof rails. Being the middle spec trim, it misses out on LED DRLs, climate control, cruise control and more.
Talking about the competition then the XUV300 AMT directly competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza AMT and Tata Nexon AMT. Both these cars offer an automatic transmission in diesel engine and their advantage over the Mahindra is the cost difference. Both the competition costs less than the recently launched XUV300 AMT.

If in future, Mahindra decides to bring an automatic transmission to the XUV300 in its petrol engine then the compact SUV will compete with Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon. Whereas the latter uses an AMT gearbox for petrol, the recently launched Venue uses a 7-speed DCT gearbox which is the quickest. Ford Ecosport uses a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The prices of the Mahindra XUV300 starts at Rs 8.1 lakh for the base trim and goes till Rs 12.69 lakh. The top end AMT, W8 trim starts from Rs 11.6 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
