For MY2022, the Mahindra XUV300 will come with 16-inch alloy wheels instead of 17-inchers along with missing out on many features
Launch 3 years ago, the Mahindra XUV300 has not exactly set the sales charts on fire in spite of being a handsome sub-compact SUV with good dynamics, powerful engines and many features. Also, as the underpinnings for this model come from the internationally successful Ssangyong Tivoli, it even provides good dynamics and a rather sporty driving experience. In spite of all this, it has pretty much failed to get a response similar to the Tata Nexon or the Maruti Vitara Brezza. And now, it looks like it will even lose some of the equipment that set it apart from the rivals.

MY2022 Mahindra XUV300 vs MY2021 Mahindra XUV300
As per some images sent to us by a dealer contact, the 2022 Mahindra XUV300 will now come with new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels instead of 17-inch units. The new rims do look a tad more stylish but are now a size smaller. This change has been made to the W8(O) trim, while the W8 trim will now come with 16-inch silver alloy wheels instead of the 17-inch units earlier. With the change in size of the rims, even the tyre spec has changes. The tires are now a bit less wider than before as the 16-inch units will come shod with 205/65 spec rubber instead of the 215/65 rubber of the earlier model.
This change should help the Mahindra XUV300 get a bit more fuel efficient but its effect on the performance will be understood only once we get to drive the updated vehicle. Unfortunately, the downgrading of the features list doesn’t end here. As per our contact, the W8 trim will even now miss out on some equipment such as passenger-side keyless entry, rear centre armrest and cup holders. What’s worth mentioning here is that in spite of this downgrade, the prices of the sub-compact SUV have remained unchanged so far. There’s no official word on the reason for this downgradation but it looks like a way of the carmaker to avoid announcing another hike in the prices.

Prices
At the moment, the Mahindra XUV300 is available in a price range of Rs Rs 8.16 lakh to Rs 13.67 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s on sale in both petrol and diesel engine variants. Prices of the W8 trim for the petrol version start at Rs 10.84 lakh while the diesel model costs Rs 12.05 lakh. On the other hand, prices of the W8(O) trim start at Rs 12.03 lakh and Rs 12.85 lakh for the petrol and diesel variants, respectively. The XUV300 is locks horns with a range of models including Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Toyota Urban Cruiser. It’s currently the only Ssangyong-based model in the homegrown carmaker’s portfolio after the discontinuation of the Alturas G4. The baby XUV could get a facelift later this year which will bring its styling more in line with the recently launched XUV700.
