Mahindra XUV 700 launch is happening this year for sure. The 7-seater SUV will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V. It is expected to be a cheaper rival, with prices between Rs 20-25 Lakhs.
As per Mahindra‘s plan for this financial year, 3 SUVs are going to launch before April. The first one down the line is Mahindra Marazzo. The premium MPV was positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta. The 2 products that are left are a full grown 7-seater SUV and a sub-4 meter compact SUV. The 7-seater SUV, codenamed as Mahindra Y400 and rumoured as XUV 700, was reportedly launching in 2019. However, as per the latest reports from Autocar India, the Mahindra XUV 700 launch is happening on 9th October 2018. This means that the S201 sub-compact SUV is launching next year. Recently, it was showcased without any camouflage at some Mahindra’s meeting. Let’s hope that this rumour is true because we would like a cheaper alternative to Fortuner.

The 7-seater SUV will come with a 2.2 Litre Turbo-diesel engine and later, with a 2.0 Litre petrol engine. The diesel engine produces 185 BHP of max.power and 420 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine gives 225 BHP of power and 220 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will come as its rival, Fortuner also comes in one. The engine will come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an AMT gearbox.
When we talk about the features, expect premium features. We can expect LED projector headlamps with DRLs, LED rear lights, Electric Seats, 9.2-inch Touchscreen Infotainment, Dual-zone Automatic climate control, and premium leather upholstery. These are not all the features, but you can expect these features for sure. It might get more features too.

Safety features onboard would include ABS with EBD, 8 Airbags, Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stability Control, Advanced Emergency Braking, and Active Roll-over Protection. Also, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, electronic parking brake, and more comfort features are sure.
The Mahindra XUV 700 is a rebadged Ssangyong Rexton G4. The SUV will be assembled by Mahindra through the CKD unit. Then, with heavy localization, it would be sold in the Indian markets. It is also reported to get a tweaked and improved suspension, for the Indian roads.

With the Mahindra XUV 700 launch, the sales of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour could be affected. We expect it to be priced between Rs 20-25 Lakhs. At this price, it will be a much cheaper option than the Fortuner and Endy.
