The recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO was able to grab 50,000 bookings in just 1 hour. That is over 13 bookings per second. XUV 3XO is a popular compact SUV which rivals the mighty Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza in our market. The updated XUV 3XO comes with tons of segment-first amenities at enticing prices. That is the only way to stand out from the crowd in this overpopulated market segment. The booking numbers look positive for the Indian carmakers.

These bookings are a sign that people have really taken a liking to the new SUV. To Mahindra’s credit, it started creating a buzz on the internet a few weeks prior to the launch. That attracted new car buyers even before the SUV was launched. Therefore, such a reaction was anticipated. The XUV 3XO gets a few segment-first features like a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS active safety features. There are multiple powertrain options and the pre-facelift model boasts a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP too. Hence, all these factors contributed towards making it such a successful vehicle.

Our View
It warms my heart to see the Indian vehicles doing so well on the sales charts. Mahindra has been having a great run in the past couple of years in terms of monthly sales. It not only sells the Scorpio N and XUV700 in India but exports these to South Africa and Australia too. Hence, the Indian auto giant offers rugged and reliable SUVs with modern amenities and uncompromising safety. We shall have to wait to see how well the new XUV 3XO performs on monthly sales going forward.
